OUR PROGRAMMES

Empowering individuals with intellectual disabilities

Different programmes. One purpose. Every differently-abled child in rural Andhra Pradesh deserves education,
therapy, skills, and a future.

Our Programmes – What We Do

Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities

Empowering children, youth and adults with disabilities through inclusive education, rehabilitation, assistive technologies, skill development, financial literacy and livelihood opportunities, enabling them to live with dignity, independence, self-reliance and equal participation in society.

Special Education for Deaf Children – Chimakurthy

The SKR Residential School for Hearing-Impaired Children at Chimakurthy provides a safe, inclusive, and nurturing residential environment where children with hearing impairments receive quality education, rehabilitation, speech therapy, auditory training, sign language instruction, life-skills education and vocational training. The programme aims to enhance communication abilities, academic achievement, self-confidence and social integration, empowering children to become independent and productive members of society.

Special Education for Intellectual Disabilities & Hearing Impairment – Kanigiri

The Kanigiri Residential School offers comprehensive educational and rehabilitation services for children with intellectual disabilities, hearing impairments and multiple disabilities. Through individualized education plans, therapeutic interventions, life-skills training and residential care, the programme promotes cognitive, social, emotional and functional development, enabling children to achieve their highest potential and improve their quality of life.

Aids & Appliances Programme

This programme enhances the mobility, communication, accessibility and independence of persons with disabilities through the provision of essential assistive devices such as hearing aids, wheelchairs, tricycles, calipers, crutches and mobility aids. The initiative also facilitates access to disability certification, rehabilitation services and government welfare schemes, ensuring greater inclusion and improved quality of life.

Inclusive Education for Disabled Children

The Inclusive Education Programme supports the integration of children with disabilities into mainstream schools by creating accessible, child-friendly and inclusive learning environments. Through teacher training, educational support, assistive learning materials, parental engagement and community sensitization, the programme promotes equal educational opportunities and strengthens acceptance and inclusion within schools and communities.

Financial Literacy for Disabled People

The Financial Literacy Programme empowers children, youth and adults with disabilities with the knowledge and skills needed to manage personal finances and achieve economic independence. Through training on savings, budgeting, banking services, digital payments, government entitlements, entrepreneurship and financial planning, the programme promotes financial inclusion, self-reliance and sustainable livelihood opportunities for persons with disabilities.

Women Empowerment Programme

The Women Empowerment Programme promotes dignity, equality, and socio-economic independence among women from marginalized communities. It focuses on strengthening skills, confidence, and leadership through vocational training, self-help group (SHG) formation, entrepreneurship support and financial inclusion. The programme enables women to actively participate in household decision-making, local governance, and community development processes. By creating access to income-generation opportunities and awareness on rights, health and financial literacy, SKR supports women to become self-reliant and socially empowered contributors to society.

Skills & Vocational Training Programme

The Skills & Vocational Training Programme equips persons with disabilities and vulnerable youth with practical, job-oriented and market-relevant skills to enhance employability and self-employment opportunities. The programme focuses on hands-on training, entrepreneurship development and capacity building aligned with local market needs. It builds confidence, work readiness and sustainable livelihood pathways, enabling participants to transition from dependency to economic independence and dignified employment.

Community Health Programme

The Community Health Programme strengthens access to essential and preventive healthcare services in rural and underserved communities. It focuses on improving overall well-being through health awareness, early screening, maternal and child health support, nutrition education and hygiene promotion. The programme encourages community participation in health practices and promotes behavior change for healthier living. By bridging gaps in awareness and access, it contributes to improved health outcomes and stronger community resilience.

Child Rights Promotion Programme

The Child Rights Promotion Programme ensures the protection, dignity and holistic development of children, especially those from marginalized and vulnerable backgrounds. The programme promotes access to education, healthcare, nutrition, and protection from abuse, exploitation and neglect. Through awareness activities, community engagement and child protection initiatives, it strengthens a safe and supportive environment where children can grow, learn and thrive with confidence.

Environmental Conservation Programme

The Environmental Conservation Programme promotes environmental sustainability and climate responsibility through community-led action. It focuses on tree plantation, water conservation, waste management and awareness on environmental protection. The programme encourages communities, schools and youth groups to actively participate in protecting natural resources and adopting eco-friendly practices. It fosters long-term environmental awareness and contributes to building greener, healthier and more sustainable communities.
