Welcome to ‘SKR Pupil’s Welfare Society’
Empowering Abilities • Building Confidence • Creating Futures
(Transforming Lives Since 1999)
At SKR Pupil’s Welfare Society, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to learn, thrive and live with dignity. Yet across rural and urban communities of Andhra Pradesh, thousands of children with hearing impairments, intellectual disabilities and developmental challenges continue to face barriers that limit their potential and exclude them from opportunities that many take for granted.
For more than 25 years, SKR has been at the forefront of disability inclusion and community empowerment, creating pathways of hope for children, families and vulnerable communities. What began as a mission to support children with disabilities has grown into a dynamic development organization dedicated to building inclusive, resilient and equitable communities.
SKR Pupils Welfare Society's Vocational Training Centre
Our flagship residential special schools at Chimakurthy and Kanigiri provide specialized education, rehabilitation, therapeutic care, life-skills development and vocational training, empowering children with disabilities to become confident, independent and active participants in society. Beyond education, we work closely with families and communities to break barriers, challenge stigma and promote inclusion at every level.
SKR’s impact extends beyond disability services. Through initiatives in Child Rights, Community Health, Gender Equality, Livelihood Promotion, Skill Development, Financial Literacy and Environmental Sustainability, we empower children, women, youth, persons with disabilities and marginalized families to build secure and sustainable futures. Driven by compassion, innovation and community participation, we are creating a future where every child is valued, every ability is recognized and every individual has the opportunity to reach their fullest potential.
Our Guiding Principle.

25 Years of Impact
Today, SKRPWS serves over 10,000 beneficiaries annually across Prakasam District and beyond. But we do not measure our work in numbers alone. We measure it in the first time a deaf child signs their name. In the moment a parent stops hiding their child from the village. In the day a young man with an intellectual disability earns his first wage. These are the moments that define SKR.

Our Partners & Funding Sources
SKRPWS operates through a combination of government grants, institutional support, and individual and corporate donor contributions. Our funding partners are committed to the same vision — an India where disability is never a barrier to dignity.
Be Part of the Change
25 years ago, a man from a small village in Andhra Pradesh decided that the differently-abled children around him deserved better. He had no funding, no building, and no government support. He had only his conviction — and 10 children who needed a school.
Today, SKR serves 154 residential students, thousands of community beneficiaries, and hundreds of families who have had their hope restored. But there are thousands more children still waiting. Children who have never been to school. Children whose families have been told — by neighbours, by doctors, by systems — that there is nothing to be done.
We know differently. And now, so do you.
