What This Programme Does<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The SKR Residential School for Deaf Children in Chimakurthy is a fully residential, government-recognised special school offering structured education, sign language training, speech therapy, auditory training, and vocational preparation to hearing-impaired children from rural Andhra Pradesh. Established in the academic year 2000\u20132001 with just 10 students, the school now serves 96 children from across Prakasam District and neighbouring regions \u2014 all at no cost to their families.<\/p>\n

The school uses Indian Sign Language (ISL) as its primary medium of instruction and follows the Andhra Pradesh State Board curriculum (Telugu medium), adapted for hearing-impaired learners through multi-sensory, visual, and activity-based teaching methods. Every child receives a formal Individualised Education Plan (IEP) developed in partnership with their parents and reviewed each quarter.<\/p>\n
